Governance

Cloudesley’s Trustees are responsible for the ensuring the charity follows the charitable objectives set out in its governing document, and for overseeing the charity’s work and stewarding its assets.

The Trustee of the charity is Richard Cloudesley Trustee Ltd, a charitable company. The individual Trustees are directors of this company. Cloudesley’s Board of Trustees includes up to 15 people and is based on the structure set out in the Charity Commission Scheme of 1980, amended in 2016. They include:

  • Ex-officio Trustee – The Mayor of Islington* 
  • Archdeacon’s Trustee
  • Nominated Trustees, Islington Deanery Synod – up to four
  • Nominated Trustees, London Borough of Islington – up to four
  • Elected Trustees – up to five

Trustees are appointed for four-year terms and can serve up to three terms.

Cloudesley also currently has three co-opted Committee Members who bring particular expertise, experience and knowledge to help make sure that the charity’s decision making is effective and well-informed.
