Richard Cloudesley Commemorative Grants

From July 2017 until June 2018, Cloudesley celebrated the 500th anniversary of Richard Cloudesley’s bequest.  To mark the anniversary, up to £635,000 of additional funding has been made available for eligible Church of England churches in Islington through the Sustainable Church Buildings Project and as Richard Cloudesley Commemorative Grants.

During 2017/18, all 27 eligible churches were invited to apply for a Richard Cloudesley Commemorative Grant of £5,000 to mark the 500th anniversary of Richard Cloudesley’s legacy.  Churches needed to spend the £5,000 award in line with Cloudesley’s Church Object, which is:

‘towards the upkeep and repair of the fabric of, and the maintenance of the services in, any churches of the Church of England in the London Borough of Islington’
